Privacy Policy
Here is the friendly version of a privacy policy. Gargetter Lifestyle is a static website: a set of ready-made pages that your browser downloads and shows you. There are no log-ins, no comment boxes, no shopping basket and no hidden scripts watching what you click. That keeps this page refreshingly short.
Last updated: October 2026.
Who looks after your data
The site is run by the small pen-name team introduced on Behind the Kitchen Door. If you have a question about privacy, or want to use any of the rights listed below, email notes@gargetter.com. Please do not send passwords, bank details or anything you would not put on a postcard.
Things this site simply does not do
- No analytics tools, visitor statistics or session recordings.
- No advertising, ad networks or sponsored widgets.
- No tracking pixels, fingerprinting or social media buttons that phone home.
- No newsletter database, accounts or user profiles.
- No selling, renting or swapping of anyone's information. Ever.
The one thing your browser remembers
When you first visit, a small card asks whether you are happy with the site's minimal storage. Whichever button you press, your choice is saved in your browser's local storage so the card does not pop up on every page. That note stays on your device. It is never sent to us, and we cannot see it. You can wipe it at any time by clearing your browser's site data, and the card will simply ask again. The Cookie Basics page explains this in a little more detail.
Server logs from our hosting provider
Like nearly every website, the pages are delivered by a hosting provider. To send a page to your screen, and to protect the service from abuse and outages, the provider's servers automatically record basic technical information for a short period. This can include your IP address, the time of the request, the page requested, the browser type and whether the request succeeded.
We do not use these logs to work out who you are or to build profiles, and we do not combine them with any other information. They exist for security and keeping the lights on, which is a legitimate interest, and they are deleted on a rolling basis by the provider.
When you email us
If you write to us, we receive whatever you include: your email address, your name if you share it and your message. We use it only to read and answer your note, and to fix an article if you have spotted an error. We keep emails only as long as the conversation needs, then tidy them away. We do not add anyone to a mailing list.
Your rights under the GDPR
Wherever you are reading from, we are happy to honour the rights set out in the EU General Data Protection Regulation. In plain words, you can ask us to:
- tell you what information about you we hold, and give you a copy;
- correct anything that is wrong;
- delete what we have, where we are not required to keep it;
- limit how we use it, or object to a particular use;
- send your data to you in a file another service can read.
Send any request to the address above and we will reply within a month. And if you feel we have handled your data badly, you are free to raise it with the privacy regulator where you live or work.
Links and children
Articles here link only to other pages on this site. The site is written for a general adult audience and does not knowingly collect information from children.
If this page changes
If we ever change how the site handles data, we will update this page and the date at the top. For the rules of using the site itself, see our Conditions of Use.
